little bit longer for the ring to return him to life after he was killed by Damon in the latest episode, “Disturbing Behavior”.
Well, let’s see, the ring is one of the magical jewelry in the show including Rebecca’s necklace, now possessed by Katherine, and Gilbert’s rings. How did Alaric get the ring? Actually, Gilbert gave the rings to his brothers Grayson and John. John then gave the ring to Isobel after giving birth to their daughter. Isabel gave John’s ring to Alaric but John wanted to get the ring back. After giving the ring to Elena (his daughter). Elena gave the ring back to Alaric.
About Grayson’s ring, it was taken by John after Grayson died in a car accident. Damon and John had a fight in season 1, but because John was wearing the ring, he survived and gave the ring to Jeremy.
Like all magic, Alaric’s ring is suspected to have its limits. We all know that Alaric was killed twice (episode 1 and 2) but because he of the ring he came back to life. To sum it up, Alaric died thrice in the show and that maybe the reason why the ring is losing its magic.
Other possible reasons why the ring ‘s power is weakening: (1) The ring was made in the 1860’s so there is a possibility that it was used many times before Alaric got it and (2) he had already used great part of the rings power.
But who knows, “TVD” is in its peak so this “loosing of ring’s magic” can be a turning point of a great and maybe more exciting chapter in each characters lives.
